Catching w/ Coach Penvose
Coach Penvose began his collegiate playing career as a walk-on catcher at Division I Furman University (Greenville, S.C.) in 1994 and later, transferred to play baseball the next couple of seasons at Division III Washington & Jefferson College (Washington, PA). During the summers of his collegiate career, Coach Penvose played catcher with semi-pro team, the Warren Generals (Warren, PA), and simultaneously commenced his coaching career. He began coaching as an assistant for a 16/18u American Legion baseball team for 3 seasons and managing a 16/18u Senior Babe Ruth team. Later, Coach Penvose served from 2003 to 2005 as Coach Brendan Zepp’s assistant on the Westlake High School Junior Varsity baseball team. From 2006 to 2012, Coach Penvose was the Pitching/Catching Assistant Coach to OHSAA H.O.F. Head Coach Jeff Short for the Westlake High School Varsity baseball team (Westlake, OH) including serving on the staff of the OHSAA Division 1 State Runner-up team in 2012. Following Coach Short’s retirement, Coach Penvose served on Head Coach Brendan Zepp’s Westlake High School Varsity staff for the 2013 through 2015 seasons. During his tenure on the Westlake staff, Coach Penvose also served as a private catching instructor, coached at numerous youth clinics, and managed a number of his own kids’ summer baseball teams in Brunswick, Ohio. Beginning with the 2024 season, Coach Penvose joined Head Coach Mike Wolf’s staff at Buckeye High School (Medina, OH) where he currently serves as the catcher position coach for all three squads.
